Rollerblade Twister XT & Maxxum 90 Skate Customization Setup
I’ve skated many setups over the years, and my current skates are the SEBA High Light Size US mens 9.0 & Rollerblade Twister XT mens US 9.0/9.5.
Skating on both indoors and outdoors, freestyle, slalom but mostly for dance and jam. I love the performance, responsiveness, and fit of these boots.
For the Maxxum:
Frame Alignment & Mounting
To achieve precise frame alignment for optimal power transfer and control, I started by using masking tape place in the area of my toes on top of the toe box of the boot - just above my toes. I located my big toe and second toe - inside the boot. I then used a sharpie and marked a dot that centered over my-inbetween my toe(s) on the masking tape. I set the front of the FR Rocker frames between those two toe reference points.
Rear frame mount - next, I marked the Achilles tendon position at the rear of the boot using masking tape. This step ensures proper heel alignment and balanced weight distribution. I repeated the same process for both skates to keep the setup symmetrical.
Frame Bolt Installation
Once aligned, I applied Locktie blue thread locker to the frame bolts only and torqued them to 4.4 ft-lbs, following the official Rollerblade factory torque specifications. This ensures a secure mount without risking stripped threads or overtightening.
Wheel & Axle Installation Tips
For wheel installation, I installed Rollerblade Twin Cam ILQ-9 Pro Bearings. For the axles I again used blue thread locker, but only on the frame threads—not on the axle threads. I avoid thread locker on axles because sliding a wet axle through the bearings and spacer can spread thread locker into the bearing seat. Once dried, this can negatively affect wheel spin, bearing performance, and roll efficiency.
This setup delivers a smooth, responsive ride that’s perfect for urban skating, fitness skating, and freeride inline skating, dance and jam - while maintaining long-term durability and performance.
